#7 THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
All believers are entitled to and should ardently
expect and earnestly seek the promise of the
Father, the baptism in the Holy Spirit and fire,
according to the command of our Lord Jesus
Christ. This was the normal experience of all
the early Christian church. With it comes the
enduement of power for life and service, the
bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the
work of the ministry (Luke 24:49; Acts1: 4&8; I
Cor. 12:1-31).
THIS EXPERIENCE IS DISTINCT FROM AND SUBSEQUENT TO THE
EXPERIENCE OF NEW BIRTH (ACTS 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 11:14-16;
15:7-9).
a deepened reverence for God (Acts 2:43; Heb
12:28),
an intensified consecration to God and dedication
to His work (Acts 2:42),
and a more active love for Christ, for His Word
and for the lost (Mark 16:20).
With the baptism in the Holy Spirit comes such
experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit
(John 7: 37-39; Acts 4:8),

the gift of tongues (I Cor. 12) but different

#9 SANCTIFICATION
Sanctification is an act of separation from that
which is evil, and a dedication unto God – Romans
12: 1&2; I Thess. 5: 23; & Heb. 13:12
Scriptures teach a life of “holiness without which
no one can see the Lord” – Heb. 12:14
By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to
obey the command: “Be holy, for I AM holy!”
I Peter 1: 15-16
Romans 12: 1&2 “…I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of
God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy,
and pleasing to God – this is true worship. Do not be
conformed to the pattern of the world, but be transformed by
the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and
approve what God’s will is – His good, pleasing, and perfect
will.”
I Thess. 5: 23 “May God Himself, the God of peace, sanctify
you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul, and
body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus
Christ.
Heb. 13:12 “And so Jesus also suffered…to make the people
holy through His own blood.”
Scriptures teach a life of “holiness without which no
one can see the Lord” – Heb. 12:14, “Make every
effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy;
without holiness no one can see God.”
By the power of the Holy Spirit we are able to obey
the command - I Peter 1: 15-16, “But just as He Who
called us is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is
written: ‘Be holy, because I am holy.’”
“Prepare your minds for action; be self-
controlled; set your hope fully on the
grace to be given to you when Jesus Christ
is revealed. As obedient children, do not
conform to the evil desires you have had
when you lived in ignorance. But just as
He who called you is holy, so be holy in all
you do; for it is written, ‘Be holy, because
I am holy’.” I Peter 1: 13-16
THREE FACETS (PARTS) OF SANCTIFICATION
Positional Holiness = Heb. 10: 10, “We have been
made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus
Christ once and for all.” Sanctified starting point is
salvation.
Actual Holiness = “real time sanctification”… 2 Cor.
3:18, “We, who with unveiled faces all reflect the
Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness,
with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the
Lord, who is the Spirit.” (Progressive Sanctification)
3 FACETS CONTINUED
The Final State of Holiness = I Cor. 15:51,
“We will all be changed – in a flash, in the
twinkling of an eye…we will be changed.”
Perfected in glory – heaven throughout
eternity.
#10. THE CHURCH AND ITS MISSION

gathering together… Biblical terms describing the
Church…

The Temple of God – the inner sanctuary, the
most holy of holies where God manifests His glory.
Eph. 2: 20 – 22 and I Peter 2:4-9
Eph 2: 20-22, “…built on the foundation
of the apostles and prophets, with Christ
Jesus Himself as the Chief Cornerstone. In
Him the whole building is joined together
and rises to become a holy temple in the
Lord. And in Him you too are built
together to become a dwelling in which
God lives by His Spirit.”
I Peter 2:4-9, “…you are a chosen people,
a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people
belonging to God that you may declare
the praises of Him who called you out of
darkness into His marvelous light.”
TERMS:
The Bride of Christ = Eph. 5
God’s household = Eph. 2: 19

#11. THE MINISTRY OF THE CHURCH
A divinely called and scripturally ordained
ministry has been provided by our Lord for the
threefold purpose of leading the Church in:

Worship of God = John 4:23-24

#12. DIVINE HEALING
Divine healing is an integral part of the
gospel. Deliverance from sickness is
provided for in the atonement, and is the
privilege of all believers.
Isaiah 53: 4-5
Matthew 8: 16-17
James 5: 14-16
ISAIAH 53: 4-5
“Surely He took up our pain and bore
our suffering, yet we considered Him
punished by God, stricken by God, and
afflicted.
But He was pierced for our
transgressions, He was crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that brought
us peace was upon Him, and by His
stripes we are healed.”
MATTHEW 8: 16-17
“When evening came, many who were
demon-possessed were brought to Jesus,
and He drove out the spirits with a word
and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill
what was spoken through the prophet
Isaiah:
‘He took up our infirmities and bore our
diseases.’” Isaiah 53:4
JAMES 5: 14-16
“Is anyone among you sick? Let them
call the elders of the church to pray
over them and anoint them with oil in
the name of the Lord. And the prayer
offered in faith will make them well;
the Lord will raise them up. If they
have sinned, they will be forgiven.”
